Not All Ultrasound Lifting Is Equal.
Ultherapy Prime is the latest-generation Ulthera system by Merz Aesthetics — the global benchmark in non-invasive ultrasound lifting. It is what other focused-ultrasound devices are measured against.

FDA-Cleared for Lifting
Ultherapy is the only micro-focused ultrasound device with FDA clearance specifically for non-invasive lifting of the brow, submentum, and neck — and for improvement of décolletage lines.
Merz Aesthetics Flagship
Designed and manufactured exclusively by Merz Aesthetics, a global leader in medical aesthetics. Ultherapy Prime is the latest-generation refinement, engineered for greater treatment efficiency and patient comfort.
DeepSEE Visualisation
Proprietary real-time ultrasound imaging shows your individual tissue layers before each energy delivery. Treatment is placed precisely — not guessed — for both safety and lift accuracy.
Quick Answer
Ultherapy® Prime vs earlier Ulthera systems
- 01Imaging: Prime carries an updated DeepSEE® screen and interface for real-time tissue visualisation; earlier systems relied on older, lower-resolution displays.
- 02Treatment pace: Prime delivers energy more efficiently, which shortens total procedure time compared with legacy units.
- 03Comfort: redesigned transducers smooth acoustic energy delivery, reducing discomfort during each pulse.
How Ultherapy Prime Lifts.
Where surgery cuts and lasers resurface, Ultherapy Prime works from the inside — delivering precise ultrasound energy to the same SMAS layer that surgeons tighten during a facelift.
See the Tissue First
Using DeepSEE real-time imaging, the MARA.H clinical team maps your individual tissue layers — skin, dermis, fat, and the SMAS structural foundation — directly on screen. Each treatment point is planned precisely against your anatomy.
Precise Ultrasound Energy
Micro-focused ultrasound passes through the skin surface and converges deep at the SMAS layer (1.5mm to 4.5mm). The thermal coagulation points trigger structural lifting and stimulate new collagen formation over 8 to 12 weeks.
“Visualisation is what separates Ultherapy from other focused-ultrasound systems. Seeing the SMAS layer before delivering energy is the difference between a treated outcome and a precise one.”
A private, considered space.
Every Ultherapy Prime session is performed by the MARA.H clinical team in a private, calm treatment room.
FDA-Cleared Treatment Areas.
Ultherapy Prime is cleared for non-invasive lifting in the areas where surgical lifting has traditionally been required.
Brow Lift
Restores a more open, refreshed appearance to the upper face by lifting the structural brow position.
Jawline & Lower Face
Sharpens jawline definition and addresses early-to-moderate jowling by tightening the SMAS foundation.
Submentum & Neck
Targets under-chin laxity and neck horizontal banding — one of Ultherapy’s strongest indications.
Décolletage Lines
FDA-cleared specifically for the improvement of lines and wrinkles on the chest and upper décolletage.
The MARA.H Clinical Difference
Ultherapy Prime is a premium device. The results it delivers depend entirely on the precision of its application.
Anatomical Precision
DeepSEE visualisation lets the MARA.H clinical team map your individual facial anatomy before each energy point — protecting critical structures and ensuring lift is delivered where it actually lifts.
Merz Factory Certified
All Ultherapy Prime sessions are performed by the MARA.H clinical team following Merz Aesthetics factory-certified training protocols. MARA.H Chatswood is listed on the official Merz Australia clinic locator and uses authentic Ultherapy Prime equipment.
Asian-Skin Expertise
MARA.H, founded by Marina Hu, specialises in treatments designed for Asian and multicultural skin. Ultherapy Prime is inherently safe for all skin tones because it bypasses the surface — but tailoring the protocol still matters.

Ultherapy Prime prices near Chatswood, Sydney
Ultherapy Prime is priced per treatment area, not per minute, and Sydney prices vary by suburb, operator experience and how many treatment lines your plan requires. At MARA.H Chatswood — on Sydney’s North Shore, postcode 2067 — a full-face Ultherapy Prime session starts from A$699 and runs around 90 minutes. Lower-face-and-neck and brow-only plans are quoted separately in person.
Ultherapy Prime
The premium tier of focused-ultrasound lifting. A full-face session at MARA.H Chatswood starts from A$699 — one deep structural session rather than a yearly maintenance cycle.
HIFU
Priced per session and per cycle, typically a fraction of an Ultherapy session — but a yearly maintenance cycle adds up. Over 12 months, total HIFU spend can approach or exceed a single Ultherapy treatment.
Prices are not one-size-fits-all. Your exact cost is confirmed at consultation, after DeepSEE imaging maps your skin’s foundation layer — so you receive a transparent quote for your own plan rather than a generic rate, with no obligation to proceed on the day. Risks, Recovery and Suitability
What most people experience
Heat and a deep prickling or aching sensation as each line of energy is delivered, felt most over bone. Afterwards the skin is usually flushed for a few hours, and the treated area can feel tender to touch and when chewing, with mild swelling, for several days to a couple of weeks. Small raised welts along the treatment lines can appear and settle within hours to a day.
Less common risks you should know about
Bruising, and numbness or altered sensation in patches of skin, can last for weeks. Temporary muscle weakness or asymmetry — a change in the smile, or a heavy eyelid or brow — can occur if energy affects a nerve, and resolves over weeks to months rather than immediately. Burns, blistering and scarring are uncommon but possible. Loss of facial fat in the treated area has been reported, which shows as hollowing rather than lifting, and is more of a consideration in thinner faces. Careful assessment, depth selection and technique reduce these risks rather than removing them.
Recovery and what it affects
Most people go back to their usual day, but tenderness when chewing can make firm food uncomfortable for several days, and lying on the treated side can be uncomfortable at first. The detailed timings are set out in the aftercare section below, and your therapist’s instructions on the day take priority over any general guide.
Results and responses vary
Change is gradual and is judged at around three months, not on the day, because it depends on your own collagen response. How much you see depends on your age, skin thickness and how much laxity there is. This is not a surgical lift and will not produce a surgical result. Where laxity is advanced, or where the concern is volume loss rather than laxity, a consultation may conclude that this is not the right treatment rather than that more sessions are needed.
When this isn’t suitable, or needs assessment first
This treatment is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, open lesions or inflamed skin in the treatment area, or over metal implants or a pacemaker in the treatment field. A history of keloid scarring, an autoimmune condition, a bleeding disorder or ongoing blood-thinning medication, recent filler or thread placement in the area, and a very thin face all mean we assess before proceeding and may recommend a different approach.
If something doesn’t seem right
Call the clinic on 0468 358 861. Blistering, a burn, spreading redness, increasing pain, numbness that is not improving, or weakness or asymmetry in the face should be looked at rather than waited out. If it is severe or you are worried, contact your GP or call 000.
After your Ultherapy treatment
On the day
The manufacturer’s patient information states that you can return to your usual activities straight after treatment, with no special aftercare measures, unless your practitioner tells you otherwise. Redness in the first few hours is common. We have set out the manufacturer’s position here rather than a stricter clinic version, so ask your practitioner on the day whether anything additional applies to you.
Days 2 to 7
Mild swelling or discomfort over the following days is not unusual. Tingling or tenderness when the area is touched can carry on for some weeks. Small areas of bruising, welts, numbness or temporary muscle weakness are less common, but they do occur.
Avoid throughout the recovery period
The manufacturer sets no specific restrictions on exercise, heat or swimming after this treatment. Follow whatever your practitioner sets for you on the day — that instruction overrides the general position stated here.
Sun protection
SPF50+ every day for the first two weeks, reapplied every two hours when you are outdoors, with a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. Hyaluronic acid products help with hydration and can be used as part of your usual routine.
When you can resume
| Activity | When |
|---|---|
| Your usual daily activities | Straight after treatment, unless your practitioner says otherwise |
| Special aftercare measures | None set by the manufacturer |
| Exercise, heat, swimming | No manufacturer restriction — confirm with your practitioner on the day |
| SPF50+ every morning | From the day of treatment, for at least two weeks |
| Reviewing how your skin has responded | Any change builds gradually over 2 to 3 months as new collagen forms, and varies between people |
| Your next treatment of any kind | Your practitioner will set the interval |
Call us if
Symptoms that persist rather than settling, numbness or muscle weakness that is not resolving, increasing pain, or anything that is getting worse rather than better. Call the clinic on 0468 358 861 and do not wait for your next appointment to raise it. Outside opening hours, or if it is severe, contact your GP or call 000.
One more thing
Your practitioner will give you instructions based on how your skin actually responded on the day. Those take priority over this page.

DeepSEE is Ultherapy’s proprietary real-time ultrasound visualisation. This means energy is placed exactly where it will lift structure, rather than guessed. It improves both safety and precision compared with HIFU devices that have no visualisation.

Some immediate tightening is often visible after the session. The true structural lift develops progressively over 8 to 12 weeks as new collagen forms in the deeper layers.
Results from a single Ultherapy Prime treatment are long-lasting and typically last around 12 months, sometimes longer depending on age, skin condition and lifestyle. Individual results vary. Many clients schedule one annual session.
Treatment usually takes 60 to 90 minutes depending on the area treated. Most clients return to normal activities the same day.
The skin may feel slightly warm or tender for a few hours, and mild redness is possible but typically resolves quickly. The latest Ultherapy Prime system was designed for improved comfort over earlier-generation Ulthera devices.
Yes. Because Ultherapy Prime delivers focused ultrasound energy to the deep SMAS layer without affecting the skin surface, it is suitable for all skin tones — including Asian and darker skin types.
