Polynucleotide
Salmon DNA Regeneration.

Not a filler — a regenerative biostimulator. TGA-approved Polynucleotide rebuilds skin at the cellular level using purified salmon DNA. The clinically preferred choice for the tear trough, where hyaluronic acid carries real risk. Performed by Registered Nurse or Dr Jenn Lee, an Ahpra Registered Practitioner (General Registration MED0002666421) at MARA.H Chatswood.

A Third Category of Injectable

Not a Filler. Not a Relaxant.

Polynucleotide is a regenerative biostimulator — a fundamentally different category from dermal fillers and muscle relaxants. It does not add volume. It restores the skin’s own ability to repair, hydrate, and rebuild structure.

01 · Biostimulator

Activates Your Own Cells

Purified salmon DNA fragments communicate directly with human fibroblasts — the cells responsible for collagen, elastin, and skin structure. The skin rebuilds itself from within rather than being padded from outside.

02 · The Tear-Trough Advantage

Where HA Filler Fails

The tear trough is the most-requested injectable area — and the highest risk for HA filler complications including Tyndall effect, lumps, and fluid retention. Polynucleotide regenerates the tissue without adding volume, sidestepping every HA risk in this zone.

Our Most-Requested Protocol
03 · Anti-Inflammatory

Calms While It Builds

Polynucleotide has documented anti-inflammatory action — particularly valuable for reactive skin, post-laser recovery, and Asian skin types prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

The Science

How Polynucleotide Regenerates.

All DNA shares the same chemistry across species. Purified salmon polynucleotides act as a biological signal — telling the skin to repair, rebuild, and restore.

Step 1 · Inject

Fine-Needle Delivery

After numbing, your clinician administers TGA-approved polynucleotide via fine-needle micro-injection across the treatment zone. The molecules sit within the dermis where fibroblasts reside.

Step 2 · Regenerate

Fibroblast Activation

Polynucleotide fragments trigger DNA salvage pathways, activating fibroblasts to produce new collagen, elastin, and barrier lipids. Skin quality, firmness, and hydration build progressively over 2-6 weeks.

“Polynucleotide is not adding anything cosmetic to the face. It is activating the cells that were already there — and giving them the signal to do the work they were designed to do.”

Polynucleotide Treatment Areas.

Each area is matched to the appropriate TGA-approved formulation. Eye area uses finer-needle protocols with Newest by Mastelli. Face and body areas use standard Plinest or Promoitalia Newest.

The Structural Counterpart

Pair Polynucleotide with Ultherapy Prime.

Polynucleotide regenerates skin quality from the surface inward. Ultherapy Prime lifts structure from the SMAS layer deep beneath. Together, they address both dimensions of facial rejuvenation — surface and structure — with a single coordinated plan designed by our clinical team.

Risks, Recovery and Suitability

What most people experience

Small raised bumps at each injection point, which are expected with this treatment and usually flatten over several hours to a couple of days. Redness, tenderness and swelling in the treated area are usual on the day. Bruising is common, and under the eyes it can be more visible and take longer to clear than elsewhere on the face.

Less common risks you should know about

Swelling under the eyes can persist longer than expected, because the tear trough holds fluid readily. Firm lumps that take weeks to settle, infection at an injection site, and asymmetry between the two sides can occur. The product is made from purified salmon DNA, so a known fish or seafood allergy needs to be raised before treatment. As with any injection into the face, product entering or pressing on a blood vessel is possible and can affect the overlying skin or, rarely, vision. Cold sores can be reactivated by injections around the mouth in people who get them.

Recovery and what it affects

Expect visible injection points for the rest of the day and sometimes into the next. Makeup over the treated area is usually delayed. Heat, strenuous exercise and alcohol are avoided for the first day. Treatment is given as a course with several weeks between sessions, so plan the course around events rather than a single appointment.

Results and responses vary

This is a biostimulator rather than a volumiser: change comes from your own tissue responding over weeks, so there is no immediate filling effect to judge on the day. How much change you see depends on your skin quality, your age, sleep and sun history, and whether the hollowing you are concerned about is skin-related or structural. Where the concern is bone or fat volume loss, this treatment will not address it, and a course may confirm that rather than change it.

When this isn’t suitable, or needs assessment first

This treatment is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection or inflamed skin in the treatment area, or where there is a known allergy to fish or to a product component. Autoimmune conditions under active treatment, a bleeding disorder or ongoing blood-thinning medication, recent eye surgery, previous filler already placed under the eyes, and a history of keloid scarring all mean we assess before proceeding. Prescription injectable treatments at MARA.H follow consultation with Dr Jenn Lee, an Ahpra Registered Practitioner (General Registration MED0002666421), and suitability is decided at that consultation rather than before it.

If something doesn’t seem right

Call the clinic on 0468 358 861. Swelling that is increasing rather than settling, spreading redness, increasing pain, discharge, fever, skin that turns white or dusky, or any change in vision should be looked at straight away rather than waited out. If it is severe or you are worried, contact your GP or call 000.

Polynucleotide FAQ

A Polynucleotide skin booster is a regenerative injection containing highly purified DNA fragments derived from salmon. These polynucleotides are biologically compatible with human skin cells and stimulate fibroblast activity, promote tissue regeneration, improve hydration, and rebuild the skin barrier.

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, polynucleotides do not add volume — they activate the skin’s own repair processes from within. At MARA.H Chatswood we use TGA-approved products: Plinest (Mastelli), Newest (Mastelli), and Promoitalia Newest.

Yes — this is one of Polynucleotide’s most significant clinical advantages. The tear trough is anatomically thin and high-risk for HA fillers, which can cause Tyndall effect (bluish discolouration), lumps, fluid retention, or vascular complications.

Polynucleotide does not add volume — it regenerates the existing tissue, improving skin quality and reducing crepiness without the risks of HA in this delicate area. At MARA.H, the under-eye polynucleotide protocol is one of our most-requested applications, priced from AU$590 single session.

Yes. At MARA.H Chatswood we use only TGA-approved polynucleotide products: Plinest (Mastelli), Newest (Mastelli), and Promoitalia Newest. These products undergo rigorous purification to remove biological proteins, leaving only the polynucleotide chains in a sterile, paramedical injection. Dr Jenn Lee, an Ahpra Registered Practitioner (General Registration MED0002666421), oversees product selection and protocol design for every treatment.

Polynucleotide injections at MARA.H are administered by either a Registered Nurse or by Dr Jenn Lee, an Ahpra Registered Practitioner (General Registration MED0002666421). Polynucleotide skin boosters are prescription treatments, and each plan follows an individual consultation and prescription.

Most clients require an initial course of 2-3 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart to establish meaningful biostimulation. After the initial course, maintenance is typically recommended every 6-12 months depending on skin condition, age, and lifestyle factors. The exact protocol is determined at your consultation based on your individual skin assessment.

Polynucleotide is regenerative, not a filler — results build progressively as fibroblast activity increases and tissue remodels. Most clients notice initial hydration and skin quality improvements within 2-3 weeks of the first session.

Cumulative improvements in firmness, fine lines, and tear trough quality become more visible after the second and third sessions. Final results are typically evaluated 4-6 weeks after completing the initial course.

Downtime is minimal. Most clients experience small injection point marks, mild swelling, or minor bruising for 24-48 hours, particularly in the periorbital area. Make-up can typically be applied the following day. Full-face treatments may show slightly more visible papules at injection sites that settle within 1-2 days. We recommend no important social events for 48 hours after injection.

Yes — Polynucleotide is particularly well-suited to Asian and reactive skin. Its mechanism is anti-inflammatory rather than inflammatory, which means significantly lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) compared with many other regenerative interventions.

It is also excellent for clients recovering from active acne, post-laser tissue, or chronic sensitivity. MARA.H Chatswood specialises in treatments designed for Asian and multicultural skin.
