RF Needling
Treatment Sydney.
Needling rebuilds the surface. Radiofrequency goes deeper. RF needling pairs fine needles with radiofrequency energy delivered beneath the skin, so it works on two fronts at once — smoothing texture and tightening the deeper layers that cause sagging. Performed by the MARA.H clinical team.

What RF Needling Treats
Radiofrequency needling addresses the concerns driven by collagen loss, textural damage and loss of firmness — including the deeper laxity that needling alone reaches less effectively.
Acne Scars
Boxcar and rolling acne scars are caused by collagen loss during healing. The combination of controlled micro-channels and radiofrequency heat triggers collagen production to fill and smooth depressed scar tissue over a course of treatment.
Skin Laxity
The radiofrequency component heats the deeper dermal tissue, prompting a tightening effect that needling alone does not provide. This makes RF needling a fit for mild to moderate laxity around the jawline, cheeks and neck.
Enlarged Pores
As new collagen firms the surrounding skin, pore walls tighten and reduce in visible size — the cleaner, smoother texture our clients report after their course of treatment.
Fine Lines & Skin Texture
New collagen and elastin thicken the dermis and smooth the skin surface, softening fine lines and refining rough or uneven texture across the face, neck and décolletage.
Jawline & Neck
Because the radiofrequency energy is delivered below the surface, treatment can be directed at firmer, thicker areas such as the jawline and neck — places where tightening makes a visible structural difference.
Combined with PICOSURE® PRO
For comprehensive scar and tone revision, RF needling is combined with PICOSURE® PRO laser — RF needling rebuilds structure while the laser addresses pigmentation.
Needling Plus Energy.
Two Actions, One Pass.
Regular skin needling is mechanical — it creates micro-channels to trigger collagen induction at the surface. RF needling adds radiofrequency energy delivered through the needle tips into the dermis, heating the tissue and prompting a tightening effect that plain needling does not reach. Both the depth of the needles and the energy are calibrated to your concern and skin type.
All RF needling protocols at MARA.H are performed by the MARA.H clinical team, following clinical standards established by founder Marina Hu.
How RF Needling
Tightens From Within.
Quick Answer
RF needling combines mechanical collagen induction with radiofrequency heat delivered directly into the deeper dermis (typically 0.5–3.5 mm). Because the energy bypasses the surface, it is often chosen for ice-pick acne scars and enlarged pores where surface-only lasers reach less effectively. Suitability and depth are set at consultation.
1. Controlled Micro-Channels
Fine insulated needles create precise micro-channels at a calibrated depth. The insulation protects the surface while the needle tip reaches the target layer — small enough to heal quickly, yet sufficient to activate the skin’s healing cascade.
2. Radiofrequency Heat
The needle tips emit radiofrequency energy that warms the surrounding dermal tissue. This controlled heat contracts existing collagen fibres — an immediate tightening effect — and signals fibroblasts to begin producing new collagen and elastin.
3. Progressive Remodelling
New collagen fibres mature over the weeks following each session. Texture smooths, scars fill, pores tighten, and the deeper tissue firms. Results develop progressively and continue to improve for months after the course is complete.
“RF needling is the step we reach for when needling alone isn’t deep enough — it adds that thermal tightening underneath while still rebuilding the surface. The two actions together are the point.”
— Marina Hu, Founder
Combine With These Treatments
Five Treatment Tiers.
Inus RF Needling is priced by treatment area. The depth, needle density, and RF energy are calibrated to the tissue being addressed — peri-orbital skin responds differently from abdominal skin, and the programme reflects that.
Eyes
Fine lines and crepiness around the eye area — calibrated depth for delicate peri-orbital skin.
Full Face
Full-face treatment addressing texture, pores, fine lines, and early laxity across the cheeks, jawline, and forehead.
Eyes + Face
Combines the targeted peri-orbital pass with full-face coverage for comprehensive upper and mid-face refinement.
Eyes + Face + Neck
Complete upper-body programme — adds the neck where texture and horizontal lines are common concerns.
Inus RF Needling — Abdomen / Hips
A body-focused RF needling programme for abdominal skin laxity, stretch marks, and post-partum texture. Deeper needle depth and higher energy density than face tiers — the Inus device is calibrated for tissue thickness on the body.
All RF Needling treatments include a consultation to assess suitability, needle depth, and the number of sessions recommended. Prices reflect Fresha booking rates current at October 2026.
Risks, Recovery and Suitability
What most people experience
The treated skin is red, warm and tight for the first few days — how long and how intense varies with the energy settings and the area treated. Pinpoint bleeding and a fine grid or track pattern on the skin are expected and settle over the following days. Light crusting or flaking as the surface heals is common, and some swelling — particularly around the eyes — can be present on the first morning after.
Less common risks you should know about
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can follow in melanin-rich and Asian skin, particularly where the skin is left unprotected from sun or treated while inflamed. As with any energy-based skin treatment, burns, blistering or textural changes are uncommon but possible. Infection, and reactivation of cold sores in people who get them, can occur. Where depth or energy settings are unsuitable, tracking marks and scarring are possible.
Recovery and what it affects
Plan for a visibly red face for the first few days, and do not book treatment immediately before an event. The detailed timings — makeup, exercise, heat, active skincare, sun protection — are set out in the aftercare section below, and your therapist’s instructions on the day take priority over any general guide.
Results and responses vary
This treatment works by controlled injury plus thermal energy, so change comes from your own healing response over weeks and builds across a course rather than arriving after one session. How much you see depends on the type of scarring or laxity being treated, your age and your general healing. Some scar and laxity patterns are better treated another way — that is decided at assessment.
When this isn’t suitable, or needs assessment first
This treatment is not appropriate over active infection, an active acne breakout in the treatment area, inflamed or acutely compromised skin, or while taking isotretinoin. A cardiac pacemaker, defibrillator or other implanted electronic device, or metal implants in the treatment area, mean this treatment is not suitable because of the radiofrequency energy. Pregnancy, a bleeding disorder or ongoing blood-thinning medication, a history of keloid scarring, an active cold sore, recent laser or peel treatment, and recent sun exposure all mean we assess before proceeding.
If something doesn’t seem right
Call the clinic on 0468 358 861. Spreading redness, increasing pain, swelling that is worsening after the first day, discharge, fever, or blisters and sores appearing should be looked at rather than waited out. If it is severe or you are worried, contact your GP or call 000.
After your RF needling treatment
On the day
The treated skin will be red and can feel hot and tight, with a fine grid or track pattern. That is the expected response to the needles and the radiofrequency heat. Use only the recovery products your therapist has given you; they lower the risk of infection while the micro-channels close over. No makeup for the first 72 hours.
Days 2 to 7
Redness settles over the first few days. Light crusting or flaking as the surface renews is common — do not pick or scrub it away. The grid marks fade as the skin heals. Most people ease back into their routine within a couple of days, but the redness and flaking can take up to about a week to fully settle.
Avoid throughout the recovery period
Exfoliating acids, retinol and vitamin C for the first week. Long stretches outdoors for the first week. Swimming, saunas and heavy sweating for 72 hours.
Sun protection
SPF50+ every day for the first two weeks, reapplied every two hours when you are outdoors, with a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses to keep direct sun off treated skin. Because RF needling carries a higher risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation in some skin types, sun protection is especially important.
